Jamaican Oxtail Recipe With Rice and Peas


This recipe will show you how to cook oxtails with gravy. This has been one of my FAVORITE meals since I was young, you just can’t go wrong with it & some good rice & peas!


WHAT YOU WILL NEED FOR THIS RECIPE

3 POUNDS OXTAIL

FRESH GARLIC

EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL

1 TBSP OXTAIL SEASONING

2 TBSP Salt

1 TSP GARLIC POWDER

1 TSP ONION POWDER

1 TSP BLACK PEPPER

1 TSP SALT

ONION

BELL PEPPERS

SCALLION

2 CAN Linstead Market Red Peas in Coconut Milk

1 Jar Spur Tree Oxtail Sauce


How To Make The Best Jamaican Style Oxtails

1. Soak the oxtails in saltwater. Scrub them together and let them soak for 30 minutes then rinse them off thoroughly.

2. Chop up vegetables

3. Place oxtails in a mixing bowl

4. Add Spur Tree seasoning sauce, 2 tbs of salt, 1 tbs of ground pepper, 1 tsp of garlic and onion powder.

5. Let them sit overnight if possible I let mine sit for about 8 hours but at a minimum 2 hours.

6. Place the instant pot on saute and Add about 3 tbs of oil.

7. Add your oxtails allow them to fry for 10-15 minutes

8. After about an hour add your vegetables and cook for another hour

9. Add with rice and peas


*note: recommend cooking your oxtails for atleast 2 Hours
